My Little Soccer Mom

I had no idea Aliz would be ready for Motherhood at only 1 year but, apparently, she's got it all figured out! She's already experiencing the trials and tribulations of carrying a carseat AND a purse. She does need a little practice at keeping the baby in the carseat, though. She's working on it!

A little more dancing never hurt anyone... these are a bit older - she has added a few moves to her répertoire, so I'll have to work on getting an updated 'dance video.'

Aliz's 1st Birthday Party!

Thank you to all those who were able to make it to Aliz's 1st Birthday Party! We had a wonderful time, and Aliz received a TON of presents! She spent all day, Sunday (in a sugar-hangover), playing with her new toys.

Ear InfectionS, Tooth #7 and more...

Well, since it has been almost a month since my last blog, we've had a lot going on! Aliz had her first ear infection - in both ears - giving her a 103.5 temp, which was the highest she's had. So, that was a little scary for us. She was definitely not herself during those few days, crying every time we set her down. She's on amoxicillin, and back to her normal happy self, so hopefully we won't have any more problems...

Tooth number 7 (on bottom) finally came through, so Aliz is more eager than ever to sink her teeth into anything she can (including us!). She eats a lot of table foods, now, and loves having dinner with us.

Last night, we had dinner at the beautiful house of our friends Scott & Betsy. Scott is one of Jason's co-workers and possibly his fraternal twin - separated at birth. Scott & Betsy bought a home that was in pain, and they have completely gutted and redone everything - it is gorgeous! It has inspired Jason to gut our home and redo it, too! HA!

We did finally purchase a leather sofa to replace our old nasty stuff that we got rid of, and we LOVE it. It reclines and is SO much easier to clean - no cat hair! And, hopefully, it will be easier for Jason to sleep on without having allergy issues. Now, if only we can keep the dogs from scratching it! We also bought a beautiful Broyhill dining room set (from craigslist) that we (aka Jason) are refinishing and reupholstering... that is, if we can agree on a fabric :) We hope to have it done by Aliz's 1st Birthday Party.

Jason had his midterms last week and did VERY well. Aliz and I are so proud of him :)

Aliz now loves to be picked up and ushered around the house so she can point at photos (and pretty much everything in sight) and say "Thaaaat?" so we will tell her who/what everything is. The other thing she's started doing over the past month that we just LOVE is, she will find a book, bring it to us, crawl into our lap and wait for us to read it to her. Although, her patience usually only lasts about 4-5 pages (depending on the book), we still melt everytime she does it. That was kind of a dumb statement... we pretty much melt anytime she laughs (which is every 3-4 seconds), smiles, talks, screams or blinks. We're totally baby-whipped. If we have another, we are due to get a total hellian. We should just name him/her Karma.

Ok, one thing that is not about Aliz. Gas was down to $2.67, today, and I'm a little bit angry about it. I don't know if a family blog is the place for politics, but... it's got me very curious as to why we were paying over a dollar more per gallon only weeks ago. "Demand is down" my hinie. And, I'm also curious as to how long they'll wait after the election is over before it shoots back up.

Anyway, I sent in my absentee ballot, last week, and there was only one candidate for Sheriff, so I wrote Jason in :) I'll let you know if we get a new Sheriff in town.

Aliz LOVES animals :)

For those of you who haven't, yet, experienced the tickle monster - this is Aliz, with her feather/cat toy. One of her favorite things to do is chase people around with it, while saying, "tickle tickle tickle." The harder you laugh (from it tickling so much), the harder she laughs. I love it :)

This is Aliz with her big sister, Zoe. Aliz LOVES to cuddle and hug... such a good little sister!

Ah, yes, and what would a little sister be, if she didn't pester and torment her older sisters a little bit??? You can tell by the look on Canuck's face - she thoroughly enjoys playtime with Aliz. That said, as soon as I convinced Aliz that it might be a good idea to let go, there was Canuck, dangling her tail like a carrot, just beyond Aliz's reach. She liked it, she just won't admit it.

The weeks seem to fly by, and one begins to run into the next. This week, my brother, Nick, found out that he passed the bar exam and was made official on his 28th birthday - congratulations, Nick! My niece, Jillian, overcame foot, hand, mouth virus and started walking! Congrats, JiJi!!! My sister posted a couple of videos (http://boyerarnold.blogspot.com/2008/09/nevermind.html) - the second is my absolute favorite. She just can't believe she did it! "Whoa!"
Aliz came home, Friday evening, with a TON of sand in her diaper - apparently, the daycare had taken her to Hawaii...
Next weekend, our friends Jon & Kelly are bringing their daughter, Mackenna, to play and spend the night - should be fun, except, we'll have to sit on the floor. We still don't have living room furniture, after having sold ours. Ooops!

Catch Up

I truly have no excuse for not having blogged in over a month! Now, we just have so many things to share, I think I'd better skip the chatter and post a few of my favorite photos and videos from this past month. Oh, yes, and here's that little thing we like to call, our wedding!!! :D

Thank you to all of our friends and family who have contributed to our lives in so many ways.

We love you all.

This was such a cute interaction to watch - I'm sure many of you have already experienced similar situations, but it was a first, for me, so I laughed for days!

Yes, she has become a well-oiled walking machine!
